I’ve heard a lot about finding joy during this time. My journey through navigating the blues made me think about what brings me joy. I learned I needed to keep a list handy for times I needed to refill my tank and put into practice those things that bring me joy.

Here’s a peek at my list (as well as a link to a video where I answered this question on a panel for mental wellness).

  1. Zumba…dance like no one is watching
  2. Scrabble…even a game on my phone
  3. Cards…I love a good game with trash talking too OR I turn to my phone’s app.
  4. Good conversations with those I love.
  5. A good book (some I’ve read recently: Harlem Rhapsody and People of Means)
  6. A good laugh (I turn to my husband, my daughter, or a sitcom for this! Have y’all seen Abbott Elementary?)
